This is Sisters of Light, Book One!                           A Book I am trying to write!

  First day

Luna gazed at the building before her, completely lost in thought. She was excited about the first day… but had she made the right choice?
WHAM!!
“Hey, watch it!” yelled a red haired girl as she picked her things up off of the sidewalk. She was wearing the green uniform of Forester Academy four blocks over. “Jeez, be more careful, or people will think you are a lunatic! Oh! I’m so sorry! I didn’t mean to be rude. The first day at a new school always makes me cranky. My name is Sunny. What’s yours?”
“My name is Luna. I just moved here last week. I still don’t know anyone, but I’ve seen you playing with the smaller kids down the street from where I live. I really hope that making friends here will be as easy as it was back in Colorado.” Luna answered happily.
“Ahhh, so you’re Stella’s new neighbor! Hey! There’s Stella now! Hey! Stella! Come over here!” Sunny yelled. A small girl with brown hair looked to her left, then to her right. She spotted Sunny waving and pointed to Sunny, then to herself. “Yes, you, silly! Come meet your new neighbor!” Sunny answered.
Stella ran over to where Sunny and Luna were standing. Luna realized that Stella wasn’t actually small, but she kept her head down and didn’t make eye contact. She was wearing the purple uniform for the School of Science down the street.
“This is Luna. She just moved in next door to you last week!” Sunny told Stella.
Stella looked at Luna, then looked away. She kept glancing at Luna until she seemed to decide that Luna didn’t mean her any harm. She scuffed the sidewalk with her shoe, and finally, mumbled a squeaky little “Hi.”, blushed scarlet, and ran away.
Sunny sighed. “Poor thing has never been able to talk to others. She is sooo shy! I don’t know personally, but I think her parents are physically violent towards her when they are around. Sometimes she will show up at my place, covered in bruises, and bawling her eyes out. She lives with her Grandmother, who is kind to her, which is a huge relief.”
BONG! BONG! BONG! BONG! BONG! BONG!
“Oh! I’ve gotta go! See you later!” sunny called over her shoulder as she ran off.
“Ok!” Luna yelled back. Turning back to the school building, she looked at the sign over the door.

Where the best way to learn
                                                                                             Is to challenge yourself
Then she looked down at her blue uniform, and realized that she had made the right choice. She loved to challenge herself when she swam. She was always trying to hold her breath for longer amounts of time, and constantly pushing herself to her limit with how long she could keep going in the water, always trying to go deeper into the water than she should have. She never stopped trying when she was in the water. In the water, she felt like… a goddess. That was the only way she could describe it. As soon as she got into the pool, she felt stronger, and far more confident. She made her best comebacks to her mother right after she got out of the pool. One time, she had called her mother an obeditious nogestumious: a fat lazy crow, who just sat around all day and cawed at the people she didn’t like. The old sot had been at a loss for words, and couldn’t even summon the energy for a snarky comment to throw at Luna. She had actually stayed silent for an entire week. Whenever she looked at Luna, she had had a confused look on her face, like she wanted to know what the *blip* Luna had called, but didn’t dare to ask.
Luna took a deep breath and walked through the front door of the building, not even dreaming that soon, her life would be in shambles, and she would be a very important character in a life or death game. Only later would she know what was to happen to her, and later still, would she know what to do about that!

Swimsuit Issue

Luna was trying not to give the other students more reasons to make fun of her and laugh at her, but it was very difficult. Something about her Western accent had made her the joke of the school.
Maybe when they see me swim, they with finally leave me alone. Luna thought just before yet another girl called her Texas Tori, and asked for bull-riding lessons. Or not. Luna sighed. A month had passed, and the pool still wasn’t open. She had asked when the first years would be allowed to swim, and been told that the pool would not be open to the first years until second quarter, but there was an  after school swim program provided for those with a rather unavoidable need to swim.
Maybe I should sign up for this after school swim program. After all, if I did, I would be able to swim my heart out for an hour before I went home to my dear tyrannical mother. That way I would feel better and actually be able to look forward to my classes. Hmmmmm… Luna thought about it all through lunch period and Swimming through History class. I’ll do it!
Later that day, Luna walked to the office. “How can I sign up for the after school swim program?” She asked.
“Take one of these forms home, read it, fill it out, sign it and have one of your parents sign it as well. Good luck and gentle tides!” said the lady at reception as she handed Luna a form.
“Thank you!” Luna cried. She couldn’t believe her good luck. Finally she would be able to get out of the gutter and show what she was really made of! She would have something to show for all of her suffering at the hands of the other kids

The lady at reception looked up, startled, as Luna ran away, squealing excitedly. She could have sworn… but no. that was impossible.
She could have sworn that Luna have lit up with a silvery light, shining like the moon from within.
ЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖЖ
Luna ran all the way home after school, flipping through the form. She filled it out and signed her name on the dotted line. When she walked into her house, she handed the form to her mother, asking her to sign it, and was immediately besieged with angry questions.
“Absolutely not! Do you want to look like a hick? Because that is what will happen if you put on that… bag-lady suit in the school building!” her mother screamed.
MOTHER!! My swimsuit is perfectly fine!” Luna screamed back as she rescued the form from her mother before her mother could rip it to shreds. “If you will not sign it, then I will ask Dad! He has always been much nicer to me than you are! And at least he actually treats me like I’m human!  You treat me like a monster, and it is getting old!” Taking her form with her, she stalked up to her room. There, she grabbed at the boxes in her closet, and dragged out her secret favorites. She pulled a box out, and opened it. She gently lifted a silver stuffed wolf out of the box, and kissed its nose. “Aw, man, Glowpelt. If only you were a real wolf, then you could help me. That madwoman downstairs is still putting me down for everything I do, good or bad. I wish you were real, so you could bite off her toes, one by one. Then she might leave me alone.”
Kneeling on the floor, she reached into the box again. She did not see when Glowpelt’s eyes and fur briefly lit up, glowing pure silver, then winking back out. Luna pulled a tattered book out of her box, and gently brushed her hand across the cover. The title read Myths and Legends of the Glow Family by Granny Glow, to my little Luna. May your life be full of goodness, and may you never falter in your mission. Love, Granny. Luna opened to her favorite story, and began to read.  Many people can hardly remember the true details of the night that Luna Silvara Glow was born. Those who do are most likely sitting in an asylum very far away. That night was windy, as if all the wind gods were letting out their breath hard and fast, and all at the same time. All the creatures that usually come out at night were gathered around the house that the doctor had chosen to house the birthing. The silver wolves and the Great Gray owls were actually able to get in, as they had a connection with the moon that only nocturnal animals have…
Hours later, Luna looked up from her book, and smiled. She could hear a car coming into the driveway. And that meant Dad was home. Getting off of her bed, and shoving her book under her pillow where her mother wouldn’t find it, she grabbed the Swim Form, and ran downstairs. She arrived at the front door just as her dad was closing it. Running up to him, she hugged him tight. “Hi, Dad! How was work? Mom is being her usual tyrannical self, and I need this form signed. Please, can you sign it? I really want to go!” she said as she handed him the form. Smiling her father pulled a pen out of his pocket, and signed Howard Glow with a flourish. Squealing, she hugged him again. The she ran off to her room, so that she could put her newest temporary treasure into her backpack for safe keeping.
Oh, Granny, how happy you would be if you could see me! I finally get to do what I love the most, and I don’t have to worry about getting in trouble. Downstairs, Luna could hear her mother yelling at her father, and quickly, she turned off her light and went to sleep. But not before she turned on the secret alarm rigging on her backpack. Now, her mother would not be able to take the form away, for fear of getting stung by tiny mechanisms. Boy, oh, boy. That backpack must be a blessing, to come with that secret compartment. Only I know the password, and that way Mom will never take away my joy. Luckily, I added my swimsuit to that compartment, and my towel. I’m all set for tomorrow.

            New Swimming, New Depths
The next day, Luna ran all the way to school, stopping to talk to Sunny and Stella on the way. Sunny congratulated Luna on conquering “the Old Buzzard” as she called Luna’s mother. Luna smiled, and waved as she ran off. As soon as she got to school, she ran to the office, and turned in her form. Then, she ran to first hour. All day, she was twitchy, and when the bell finally rang at three thirty, she blasted out of her chair, and dashed all the way to her locker. Since she had specifically completed all of her homework in her last hour study hall, she didn’t have to deal with all of her books. She dumped them in the bottom of her locker, and grabbed her backpack. Whispering “Wish” into the small analyzer, she got out her swimsuit, and ran to the Gym, where role was supposed to be taken. When she got there, she stood off to the side. That is, until one of the boys waved her over. Smiling shyly, she walked over to him, pausing to give a smarting death glare to one of a group of blonde girls who tried to trip her. The girl cringed, and left her alone. When she got to the boy, she smiled at him. He had dark, dark blue eyes, and the blackest hair she had ever seen. And I thought my hair was dark. She thought.
“Hello! My name is Knox. Your name isn’t really Texas Tori, is it? I hope not. That would be just plain creepy.” He said, smiling. Goddess, but he’s cute! Thought Luna.
“No, that is just what they call me. My real name is Luna. The girl who first called me Texas Tori had no brain. Colorado is nowhere near Texas, and I am so not gonna be riding bulls anytime soon.” She replied. Knox smiled.
“Well, hope you brought your swimsuit. Otherwise, you won’t survive the day.” He answered.
“Yeah, I brought it. Though, mom wasn’t too happy when I handed her the form last night.” She said, giggling. The girls on the other side of the gym glared at her. Turning around to face them, she glared back. Then one of the girls flipped her off. Ok, that’s it! Storming towards the culprit, she used her towel to give her a rat whip. She twisted the end of her towel until it was impossibly thin, and snapped it toward the other girl. Shrieking, the girl and her friends ran off. Oops. Luna thought dryly. She sometimes regretted her outbursts, but not this time. Turning back to Knox, she found that there were now five boys… and two girls. Grinning, Luna walked over to the girls. One had red hair, and the other was a brunette who used her hair to hide her face. “Hey, Sunny! Hi, Stella! How are you? Do you always come here after school?” she asked. Sunny nodded. And then she smiled. Stella pulled her hair back from her face. She, too, was grinning.
“Wow, Luna! Where did you learn to use a towel like that?” Stella asked in the locker rooms. She had pulled her hair back into a ponytail holder, and was trying to tie the straps of her swimsuit at the back of her neck, but she couldn’t reach.
“Here, let me do that.” Luna offered. Taking the straps in her hands, she tied them in a neat bow, making sure that they were loose enough that Stella didn’t choke. “Well, my old swim teacher was always using her towel to hit the slackers. I was always going, and so she taught me how to use the towel that way, so I could help her with the other kids. She even started using me to show them how they should be about their swimming. I never went back after that. I could already swim way beyond expectations. So I decided I had had enough of swimming lessons.” Luna explained.
“Wow, Luna. I don’t even know what to say about that. I was just taught to spin a baton with the ends on fire. Without setting anything else on fir, I might add.” Sunny commented. She seemed to turn as red as her hair, as if remembering something embarrassing. She was wearing a gold swimsuit with flame trim. She looked like a mini sun goddess, with all of that yellow. Stella was wearing a dark blue swimsuit with white trim. She looked ready to fly. Ok… why did I just think that? Luna thought. She herself was wearing a Midnight Blue two-piece with wide silver trimming. She had had to save up for a long time to buy it, and her mother had not been happy, but Luna didn’t care. Actually, she had been happy to subject her mother to a few rather biting remarks when she had tried to stop Luna from getting the swimsuit. For some reason, her mother did not like the suit. And yet she has about a million of her own swimsuits, the old cow. Luna thought. Standing up, and grabbing her towel, she ran to the shower area. Turning on the water, she stepped under the stream of cold water, and scrubbed herself clean, making sure to get all of the lotion she had put on earlier off. Then, she let Sunny have a turn. Stella grabbed her arm and pulled her aside.
“Be aware, before you go out there. There are a lot of people out there today. They usually let some kids watch the swimmers, but since you decided to do the swim program, a lot of kids came to watch. They are even betting on you drowning. For God’s sake, Luna, be careful!” she told Luna.
Smiling, Luna took up her towel, and began to climb the stairs. She opened the door, and was greeted by loud insults, and people throwing things.

           Powers and Transformations

Dodging everything, she ran over to the deep end, and climbed the diving board. When she got to the top, she walked to the end, and jumped. She did a perfect swan dive, and flipped just before she hit the water. She went in without a splash. Even under the water, she could hear the collective gasp running through the crowd, and a few smatterings of applause. Coming up, she got out of the pool and walked over to the goggle stand, and chose a blue pair with a silver strap. When she got it firmly into place, she went back to the water, and jumped in. coming up, she yelled, “Do you all want to know how long I can hold my breath? Well? Do you?”.  There were screams of “YES!” in reply. Taking a deep breath, she ducked her head under the water, and sank to the bottom. No problem, Luna thought, I can stay down here for almost twenty minutes, and swim at the same time. They probably won’t believe it, but I can hold my breath as well as any dolphin. Twenty minutes later, Luna still wasn’t feeling the stinging sensations that come with not getting enough air. Still, the crowd was starting to get restless, so she came up, and acted like she was out of breath. Gasping, she waved at the other kids. Looking around, she found Knox, Sunny and Stella were standing on the sidelines, staring at her with open mouths. Smiling, Luna climbed out of the pool, and walked over to them.
“Wow, Luna! That was awesome! I didn’t even know it was possible to stay under for that long!” Stella told her. She was smiling very wide. It looked as if she was trying not to cry. Knox was still staring at her, and he looked like he really wanted to ask a question.
“What? Did I do something wrong?” Luna asked. She didn’t want to scare him away on the very first day.
“Ummm… Actually, I think you scared the teacher. After the first ten minutes, he fainted. He woke up at fifteen. At eighteen, he tried to call an ambulance. Sunny stopped him, and told him that you knew what you were doing… how do you stay under that long? Even I can’t stay under for more than eight minutes.” He replied. Then he smiled. “How about you teach me to do that? It would be awesome!”
Luna laughed. “Sorry. This girl stinks at teaching other people, and she would rather not have a heart attack from worrying about her students. Besides, I could have stayed under for much longer than that. For some reason, I still didn’t feel winded. The gasping? Fake. I felt perfectly fine. Usually, twenty minutes is my absolute limit. I guess I am stronger than I thought!” she told him. Sunny looked like her eyes were going to pop out of her head. Luna started laughing. “oh, god! Sunny! Put your eyes back in your head, please! You are seriously freaking me out! Oh, god, my sides hurt! Ha!” Luna’s face started turning blue.
Sunny came to her senses, and started thumping Luna on the back. “Hey, Luna! Breath, already!” she yelled. Now, thinking back on what Luna had said, she started laughing, too. “Ok, maybe I looked a little funny, but that is no reason to forget how to breath!” she said, giggling. Finally, Luna caught her breath. Then, she noticed that it was almost four twenty-five.
“Hey, what time do we get out at?” she asked.
“I think we get out at four fifty-five. But we usually stay longer.” Stella replied. She was still laughing at Luna’s comment about Sunny’s eyes. She was also shivering, because the air was somehow getting colder. Sunny, too, was shivering. Suddenly, Knox turning, and ran away, laughing. Okay, something is seriously not right here. Why did he run away? And why is it getting so cold in here? The way he was laughing was also pretty disturbing. Suddenly, there was a brilliant flash of light, and Sunny and Stella disappeared.  The crowd ran for the doors.
“Sunny! Stella! Where are you?” Luna screamed. Then, there was another flash of light. Luna was bathed in a silvery glow. My daughter, it is time for you to awaken! The other two are receiving the same message as we speak! You must concentrate, and save these people from their doom! Now! BECOME YOUR TRUE SELF! A woman’s voice shrieked in her head. Suddenly, all Luna could think about was silver, and moonlight. She began to glow brighter. Then, there was another flash of light, this time coming from Luna. When the light faded, she was completely changed.
Her sleek black hair had become silver, with deep, dark blue streaks toward the front. Her eyes were darker, midnight blue. Her swimsuit had become a silver half cami with a black skirt. Her feet were now covered by silver slippers with black soles. She was wearing a bracelet, made of silver. Around her waist, there was a silver belt with a loop on either side. Tucked into these loops were two strange silver weapons. They looked unstable, but when she reached down to grab them, she knew just what to do. Spinning them into the air, she yelled, “I AM LUNARI, DAUGHTER OF THE MOON, QUEEN OF THE NIGHT! THE DARKNESS WILL BOW BEFORE ME!”
With that, she ran over to the doors. She found that very few of the other kids had escaped, and most of them were paralyzed by strange creatures. The creatures were shadow-like, and seemed to constantly shift, even when they were standing still. Among them, stood a boy who had black, black hair, and his eyes were empty shadows. When he turned to face Lunari, his eyes suddenly softened, and turned green. “Knoxus! How dare you! You have no right to terrorize these poor people! Leave at once!” Lunari screamed at him.
“Ah, but Lunari, I have every right! They have forgotten what created them! The Darkness spawned them, but the Light tamed, and trained them. They have forgotten their master!” he replied. His voices sounded strange, like an echo, and yet like about fifty of him were speaking at once. He was staring at her, like he was trying to do something, but somehow, he just couldn’t. then, a soft voice, a faint echo of the human Knox, spoke in Lunari’s head. Luna, run! I can’t keep him from hurting you, not for long! Gods above, how did he get to me? I tried to lock him away! I want to become a Knight of the Light! Lunari, RUN! Then, the voice faded into oblivion. Lunari, not wanting to waste a moment of the Dark Spawnling’s confusion, attacked with her weapons. She spun them expertly around her head, and thought of the currents of the oceans, and how they made rip-tides. Suddenly, the water in the pool rose, and came down on Knoxus, encasing him, and freezing wherever it touched him. Soon, there was nothing left but a cylinder of ice, completely encasing him.
Lunari turned back to the kids, and the moment she looked at them, the creatures vanished. She ran over to the doors, and found a chain holding them shut. “Stand back!” she warned the students. They all rushed away from the door, and Lunari grabbed the chain. Giving it a sharp tug, she broke it, and pushed the doors open. “Run along home. Please, do not mention what you have seen here, and stay safe. Try to forget your fears, for the less you fear, the stronger you will be. And for Galaness’s sake, be careful!” she said as she ran away. She quickly ran to the locker rooms, and grabbed her things. Then, she ran outside.  She accidentally bumped into a golden- blond haired girl. They both fell down, and the girl started to yell at her.
“Watch it! You need to be more careful, or the Shadows will get you! Hey, wait a minute… Luna?!” the girl said. Lunari stared at her. The girl’s golden hair had yellow streaks toward the front, and her clothes were like Lunari’s only they were yellow and Gold. Her top was gold, as well as her slippers, and her skirt was yellow. Straps ran from her shoulder, and wound around her body. Tucked into the back of these straps were two overlarge golden throwing stars, shaped like miniature coronas. Her eyes were the same color as the sky during a clear day, and full of recognition.
“Ha! The lady in my head wasn’t kidding. Is that you, Sunny? Wow! Shiny… kinda like me! Where is Stella?” Lunari asked. She wanted to know what was going on, but it could wait. Friends always came first in her book.
“Right now, my name is Solara. Stella wasn’t with me when I changed, so I don’t know where she is. We gotta find her!” Solara told her. Suddenly, there was a scream. The two girls looked at each other. They knew that scream!
“Stella!” they yelled. They took off running in the direction of the voice. Finally, they came upon a girl with pure white hair. There were iron colored streaks towards the front of her hair, and she was dressed in white and gray. Her top was white, and her skirt was gray, and well as her slippers. Her waist was home to a belt, and on either side of it, two sheaths were attached. The sheaths seemed to have iron swords in them, but their owner was completely unaware. She was being backed into a corner by a large black monster, and she was still screaming.
“Stella! Get the swords in your belt! You’ll know what to do!” Lunari yelled. Looking over, the girl nodded, and smoothly pulled them from her belt. Then, she stood up.
“I AM STELLARI, DAUGHTER OF THE STARS, LADY OF THE NIGHT SKY! OBEY ME AND VANISH INTO OBLIVION!” she shrieked, wielding the swords. The thing vanished, and Lunari ran over to Stellari, and knelt beside her. The poor girl had sunk to the ground, in a dead faint. Police sirens were wailing in the distance, and Lunari looked up at Solara.
“We have to get out of her! NOW!” she yelled. Picking Stellari up in her arms, Lunari started running . They ran as fast as they could, doing all they could to get away from the alley where they had found Stellari.

A New Beginning, a New Chance

Gods, but I wish I could fly! That would make this so much faster… and easier! Stella may be light as a feather now, but I am exhausted from trying to stay in this form! Argh! Lunari thought. Just as suddenly as the thought had popped into her head, two large, silver wings emerged from her back, glowing like the moon, and fully fledged. Wow! Awesome! So all I have to do is think it, and it happens. Well… that is VERY cool! Luna thought back to her Granny’s storybook… hey! Wait a minute! If Mom finds that book… or Glowpelt, she’ll burn them to a crisp! NO! I’ve got to get those! NOW!
“Solara! We need to stop by my house! I need to get some of my stuff, before Mom finds it! If she does, she’ll destroy it! PLEASE!” Lunari yelled. Solara stared at her. There were tears forming in Lunari’s eyes, and she looked like she was about to start bawling.
“Ok! Make it fast!” Solara yelled back. As they ran, they let their concentration on their Light forms fade, and by the time they were at Luna’s house, they were back to normal. What was weird was, they were wearing their favorite cloths. Luna was wearing her best black and silver top, with a pair of dark gray pants. Sunny was wearing a yellow shirt with a gold sun. Underneath the sun the words “ON THE BRIGHT SIDE” were written in dark gold puff paint. She was also wearing a pair of bright blue jeans. Stella too, had gone back to her human form, even though she wasn’t conscious. She was wearing a gray spaghetti strap shirt with a see-through over-top, and dark blue jeans. Gently setting Stella down, Luna ran up to the door. Opening it with a thought, she ran up to her room. Dashing to the closet, she yanked the door open to find… nothing. Luna screamed. Smelling smoke, she ran to the back yard. Her mom was standing over the grill, the rack gone. She had all of Luna’s treasures at hand. She was about to dump them into the burning coals, and she looked like she was going to enjoy it. Luna ran over to her, and knocked the box out of her mother’s hands. Just as one of her books was about to fall into the flames, a hand shot out and grabbed it. Sunny had come to the rescue, and Stella was close behind.
“We heard you scream, and a bunch of stomping. You actually woke Stella up, you were so loud. So, what is going on? Oh, no need to explain. I think Luna has finally found an excuse to give her mother the bad cop treatment. Luna? What do you think?” Sunny said. She sounded perfectly calm, as if she was carrying on a perfectly normal conversation, but her eyes had a dangerous glow to them. Stella, too, looked ready to pounce. Luna herself was practically bristling. You could almost imagine her as a very, very angry bear, ready to knock off her witless victim’s head.
“I think I should use my new abilities to knock her from here to Pluto! What gives you the right to take my things, huh? Do you honestly think you are better than me, you filthy excuse of a human being? Do you think I ENJOY being looked down on? Or do you really want me to kick you to the ends of the universe?” Luna shrieked. Then, unexpectedly, she morphed into Lunari. Grabbing her weapons from her belt, she spun them at the woman who had been the bane of her life for over fourteen years. Her mother fell over, a huge gash in the side of her face. Lunari ran over to the box of her things, and grabbed it off of the ground. Without warning, a silver backpack appeared right next to her. She began to fill the bag, gently setting her things into it. Sunny came over, holding her own golden backpack, as well as Luna’s book, swimsuit, and towel. Stella, too, had a backpack, and hers was iron gray.  Lunari took her things from Sunny, and set them on top of the stuff in her bag. Only Glowpelt, her toy wolf, was left, and she was glowing. Suddenly, a bright flash illuminated the backyard, and Glowpelt began to grow. Soon, she was life-sized, and alive. A gift to you, my daughter. You will need a worthy companion on your journey, and a wolf perfectly suits you. You are fast and cunning, wise and deadly, like the wolf. Your friends will receive their companions soon, but, you are the leader. Take care of… what do you call her? Glowpelt? Yes, take care of Glowpelt. She will become your greatest friend in the years to come. The woman from when Luna first transformed spoke in her head again.
“What? Glowpelt, is that really you? Oh my god! Your fur is so beautiful!” Luna gasped. The silver wolf slowly stood up, and trotted over to where Luna was standing. Whimpering, she butted her head against Luna’s hand, and sat down next to her.
Yes, it is I. you named me well, moon’s daughter. I have enjoyed my years as your favorite toy, and now I will enjoy many more as your companion. Ah, sun’s daughter! Star’s daughter! How is your day? Another voice spoke, this time a majestic female voice, and yet unmistakable.
“Luna! Your wolf had telepathy!” Stella squeaked. Then she ran over to Glowpelt, and began examining her. “A good build, light and sleek. Good for a long, fast run. Sleek, shiny fur, also in good shape and health. Glowpelt, open your mouth, please! I need to look at your teeth! Great!” turning to Luna, who seemed flabbergasted, she smiled, saying, “Your wolf is in perfect health!”
“Um… thanks.” Luna replied. Now she was absolutely confused. Then, she understood. Stella knew all about animals and the way to tell if they were healthy. She had been making sure that Glowpelt did not have anything that would be a danger to any of them.
Ahh, so that is what she was doing. Now I understand. None of you have anything to worry about, at least not from me. You are perfectly safe. The only dangers you need to fear come from the Darkness. And those are the worst. Some of them have the ability to sense your greatest fear, and become that. Glowpelt told them. Now, let us leave. This yard is giving me the… what did you call it, Luna? Ah, yes, the willies. This place is giving me the willies.
“Ok, girls! Hope you have everything you want to take with you, because we are leaving town. This place is no longer safe, and I doubt anyone will remember us. Remember, if we want it, it happens, and I think we should erase these poor people’s memories about today. Just those about us, and let them think we never existed.” Luna told Sunny and Stella. With a thought, all three girls changed into their Light forms, and began to concentrate on erasing each and every memory ever given to the people in the city about them. No one would ever know they existed, and they needed it to stay that way. With a bright flash of light, all memories of them were gone. Turning to Glowpelt, Luna asked, “Can you fly? Or do you have to run?” Glowpelt suddenly flashed silver. When the light was gone, and the girls had their sight back, they gasped.  Glowpelt had grown a pair of silver wings, just big enough to hold her up in the sky. In short, her wingspan was about twelve feet. Lunari knew the wings resembled her greatly, even though her wingspan was about sixteen feet. Ok, how do I know that? Oh, well. I guess it is instinctive, knowing your own wingspan. Lunari then sprouted her own wings, and Solara and Stellari grew their own. Solara’s wings were as gold as the golden eagles, while Stellari’s wings were a rich iron gray. Giving their wings a few practice flaps, they ran a few steps and jumped into the air. They pushed down with all their might, and soon were very high up. Stellari seemed right at home, way up above even where Solara or Lunari dared to go. She had flown up many hundreds of feet above them, and she was just a speck in the sky. They could still hear her giggling, though.
“Looks like we’re not the only ones who are having the time of our lives. The people in China can probably hear her.” Solara said, doing a belly roll in midair. This caused her to drop a few feet, just as Stellari came back down to them.
“I heard that, Solara. So, Lunari, where should we go? I mean, the woman told us you are the leader, so you get to decide where we go. Where do you want to go?” she asked.
Lunari thought for a minute, and came to a decision. “Let’s do a private world tour! I mean, we all want to go somewhere, don’t we? I want to go to Hawaii, and Solara wants to go to India.”  She said.
“Spice, baby! All about the spice!” Solara yelled, grinning. At the look on her face, Lunari and Stellari burst out laughing. “What… Hey! Where did Glowpelt go? Oh god! LUNARI! Your wolf is a toy again! And she somehow strapped herself to your backpack! Wow! Cool!” Solara screamed.
Lunari grinned. I guess it comes with the merchandise. “Ok, let’s go to India first. After that, we can go to wherever you want, Stellari, and then we go to Hawaii. Then we all choose a new place to go! This is going to be so much fun! Let’s go!” she yelled over the wind. Turning in a new direction, the three girls started out on the adventure of a lifetime.

               India, Home of the Tiger

“Lunari! I think I can see land!” Solara yelled. She was right. All three girls could see land up ahead. Lunari decided it was time to test out an idea.
“Ok, you both know how we can do whatever we want, just by thinking it?” she asked. Stellari and Solara nodded. “Do you think we might be able to tell where we are with our minds?” she said. Again, Stellari and Solara nodded. “Ok, then let’s give it a try!” she said. Reaching out with her mind, she began to search the land ahead of them. Soon, she found what she was looking for. “We are definitely in the right place! The shape is right! Now... let’s land! I know how to create money for a boat fare, so we might as well become passengers! Back to the islands!” she yelled. Turning around, they flew back to the islands, and landed on the outskirts of a city close to the bay. Letting their concentration fade, they changed back into humans, and ran to a booth. Stella suddenly realized that she could read the signs, so she turned to Luna and Sunny.
“How about I handle this? I can read these signs, and I think I might be able to speak their language, too! Leave this to me!” she whispered. Then, she turned to the man in the booth. Smiling, she asked where she could buy boat tickets. The man at the counter asked where they wanted to go. “India!” was Stella’s reply. Smiling, the man behind the counter handed over three tickets. Luna reached into her backpack, and pulled out enough money to pay for them. Then all three of them ran to a boat. Luna gave the tickets to the man standing outside the boat, and he smiled. Soon, the girls were on their way to India.
“Wow! This ship is really fast! Almost as fast as an airplane… we should be there by the time the sun goes down!” Stella yelled. She was smiling, and it looked like she was… glowing?
Running over to her, Luna asked her, “Hey, Stella, did you leave your flashlight on again?”
“No, why?” Stella replied. Looking down, she saw that she was shining slightly. “Oh! Yeah, I forgot about that!” she said. Reaching into her pocket, she pretended to grab something, and somehow, turned off her glow. As her glow faded, there was a clicking sound. Stella giggled, and pulled a small LED flashlight from her pocket. Luna smiled. That girl would have made an excellent actor. Stella put the flashlight back into her pocket, smiling. Sunny ran over, giggling. She, too, had seen Stella’s accidental light show, and how she had disguised it.
Hours later, the sun was sitting on the horizon. Sunny was jumping up and down, pointing. Luna and Stella joined her at the railing. In the distance, she could see a shoreline. Fifteen minutes later, they were pulling into port. Luna, Sunny and Stella got off the boat, and fell over. Luna started laughing.
“Looks like we all have a bad case of sea legs.” She said, trying to stop giggling. A few minutes later, she had found her balance again, and she helped Sunny and Stella get up. The girls wound their way through the harbor, and stopped at an inn. Luna produced a handful of rupees from her bag. Stella told the innkeeper that they wanted beds for a couple of days. Nodding, he took the rupees, and handed back a few. Then, he handed them a key, and showed them to a room. As soon as they entered, they all gasped. There were three beds, and the sheets and drapes were made of pure silk. Sunny ran over to one of the beds, and threw herself down on it. The innkeeper bowed, and left. Stella yawned, and fell onto on e of the other two beds.
“Ok, girls. We need to be at our best tomorrow, so we can explore. Sleep well! Goodnight.” She fell onto the last bed, and was soon asleep.
The next morning, Luna, Sunny and Stella woke up, fully refreshed. They grabbed their bags, and left the inn. The innkeeper nodded to them as they passed by. There was a fair going on in the center of town, so they went there. Sunny fell down on the way in.
“Sunny! Are you ok? What happened?” Luna asked. She helped her get onto her feet. Sunny smiled.
“Nothings wrong. I just saw this adorable stuffed tiger! Oh, please! Can we go get it? It was at the Game booth over there! Please?” she said. She was beginning to cry. Then, she ran toward one of the booth. It was one of the hard ones, where you have to shoot targets, and you get a prize depending on what you score was. The tiger was the Big Prize.
“Sunny, you’d have to be an expert to hit that top target! But, I guess it can’t hurt to try. Go ahead. Give it your best shot!” Luna told her. Handing the man at the booth a rupee, Sunny grabbed up one of the toy guns. Stella and Luna stood back. Sunny leveled the gun, and took aim. Pulling the trigger, she shot the target on the top. With a loud bang, it blew into the back wall of the booth, and shattered. Sunny squealed, and started jumping up and down. The man behind the counter stared at her, and shooed them away. When they were about fifteen feet away, he grabbed up the stuffed tiger, and started to run away.
In plain English he yelled, “No one will ever get this prize. No one has, and no one will. Now, go away, demons! Leave!” Sunny shrieked with rage, and jumped at him.
“I won that tiger, fair and square! You are the demon if you will not give the winner a prize worthy of their score! UNHAND THAT TIGER, OR I WILL HAVE YOUR EARS! AND THAT CRUDE TOUNGUE OF YOURS!” she screamed. The man dropped the tiger, and Sunny snatched it out of the air just before it hit the ground. She cuddled it to her, and glared at the man. Turning away, she ran back to Luna and Stella. Suddenly, the man burst into a cloud of ash. Screaming, Luna pointed at the roof of the booth. A boy with dark blonde hair stood there, grinning.
“Hello girls. Didn’t expect to find you here! What a surprise. And Sunny! How… bright you are this morning. Boys, do come out. We have found our favorite set!” he called.
“Sheesh, Darx. You seem to have a crush on your own voice. Anyway… SHADOW! Let go! Jeez.” Knoxus complained as he and a boy with brown-black hair jumped down from one of the buildings. The boy stared at Stella, as if not seeing anything else. Stella pulled her hair out of her face, and glared at him. Then she stuck out her tongue. The boy blushed and looked away. Knoxus rolled his eyes, and pulled him out of the shadows around the building. The bot squealed, making Stella giggle.
“Can’t take a little light, huh? Let’s see how you like this!” Stella yelled, suddenly changing form. Luna followed suit, and they let loose with their light. Sunny shifted into her full flare light self, and growled at the boys. Suddenly, the stuffed tiger started to grow, and it’s make fur became real fur. Glowpelt jumped out of Lunari’s backpack, and landed next to the tiger. The tiger was stumbling, and couldn’t seem to get her balance. Glowpelt nudged the tigers side with her snout, and helped to tiger into the sunlit square. Soon, the tiger was standing confidently by Solara’s side, and growling at the boys.
Your gift, Solara. You are my daughter, the daughter of the sun. you have found Flarestripe. Now it is time to draw your throwing stars! A woman’s voice rang through the square. Solara reached behind her back, and pulled out a pair of large, golden throwing stars shaped like the sun.
“I AM SOLARA, DAUGHTER OF THE SUN, QUEEN OF THE DAY! THE DARKNESS WILL WRITHE AND COWER BEFORE ME!” she screeched.
“Whoa! Someone’s been eating red meat!” Knoxus said, laughing. Then, he jumped at her. The tiger suddenly darted between them, and before Knoxus knew what had happened, he was on the ground with a steady trickle of blood running from a gash in his arm. “How about it? You ready to give up, Knoxus?” Lunari taunted, waving one of her spin blades at him in a want some more? gesture. Glowpelt gave a piping howl, and jumped on top of Shadow. The tiger was rubbing her head against Solara’s leg, and she was giggling.
“Alright, boys, that’s enough. Let’s let them enjoy their temporary victory.” Knoxus said, clutching his arm. Shadow disappeared from under Glowpelt, and the boy on the roof snorted, and did the same.
“I think I’ll name her what that lady called her… Flarestripe!” Solara said as she became human again. Suddenly, a crowd came from the shadows, and began cheering. A reporter cautiously made her way over to them.
“Please tell me girls, who were those boys? And who are you?” she asked,, holding a microphone our to them. Sunny gave Luna a go on nod. Smiling, Luna stepped forward and began to speak.
“We are the daughters of the goddesses of light. We were born to human mothers, and they mistreated us very badly. We were put here by the goddesses of the Moon, Sun and Stars to protect everyone from the sons of the gods of Darkness. We are the Sisters of Light. Them… I guess you could say they are the Brothers of Darkness. As of yesterday, we are traveling the world, searching for our animal companions. You just saw Solara gain hers. My companion, Glowpelt, is the wolf. Solara has gained Flarestripe, the tiger that is standing next to her. Oh, Don’t worry! They are perfectly tame! They won’t bite. We are so sorry for the mess. Hopefully, no one got hurt!” she told the reporter. While she was speaking, the camera-man behind the woman kept the camera trained on her. Sunny and Stella came up behind her, and smiled. Flarestripe started purring, and a little girl in the crowd giggled. She ran forward, and even though her mother cried out in warning, she dashed to Flarestripe’s side, and began to run her fingers through her fur. Flarestripe turned, and gently nosed the girl’s dress. Her mothe gasped, and turned to Sunny, frowning. Smiling, Sunny reached down, and gently helped the little girl onto Flarestripe’s back. The girl started giggling. Flarestripe purred even louder, and crouched down with the girl on her back.
Stella turned to the girl’s mother, and told her “Don’t worry! Flarestripe is just a big kitten. She will not harm your daughter. I promise.” The woman nodded. Her daughter jumped down from Flarestripe’s back, and ran over to her.
“And here we have it folks. A new group of heroines is emerging! The Sisters of Light!” the reporter said into the camera. The crowd started cheering, and Glowpelt and Flarestripe chose that moment to turn back into plushies.  Gently attaching them to their backpacks, the girls turned into their light forms, and grew wings. They took off, waving at the crowd, and heading for their next destination: Hawaii!
